Break Strathcona’s Food Drive
On Saturday, June 19th a community-wide food drive will take place in Sherwood Park from
7:00AM until 11:00PM. There will be several drop off locations including the Community
Centre Parkade on Festival Way, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church on Brower Drive,
the Ardrossan Recreation Centre and several grocery stores in Sherwood Park.
The food drive is being coordinated by the Elks, Rotary Club, Knights of Columbus and
ACT/UCT (The Order of United Commercial Travelers of America) who are sponsored by
Christenson Developments. Various sports teams are also participating. The following
list indicates those items most needed at the Strathcona Food Bank:
- Canned chili or stew
- Canned ham, chicken or spam
- Canned salmon
- Canned mushrooms
- Pancake mix
- Pancake syrup
- Broth, 1 litre size
- Fruit cocktail
- Cookies
- Condiments (e.g. mustard, relish, ketchup)
- Kidney beans
- Side Kicks
- Flour
- Sugar
- Stove Top Stuffing
- Tea – regular, black
- Tampons
- Hand soap
- Safety razors
- Paper towels
Following is a list of the locations where donations can be dropped off on June 19th
and the times when these locations will be accepting donations:
- Our Lady of Perpetual Help – 7am to 11pm
- Strathcona Library Bus Bay – 9:30am to 8 pm
- Antler Lake Community Hall -1pm to 5pm
- Ardrossan Rec Centre – 8am to 8pm
- Sobey’s Nottingham (Wye Road) – 8am to 8pm
- Sobey’s Lakeland Ridge (Baseline Road) – 8am to 8pm
- Safeway (Mall location) – 8am to 8pm
- Safeway (Wye Road) – 8am to 8pm
- Save-on Summerland (4005 Cloverbar Road) – 8am to 8pm
- Save-on (Baseline Road) – 8am to 8pm
- Save-on (Wye Road) – 8am to 8pm
- Walmart Emerald Hills – 8am to 8pm
